This is a great lens and therefore has no flaws to write about. If you want one, buy one. They are all over the place second hand. The Series E was a discount lens from the late s. This has been a benchmark professional lens for decades and is built to the highest mechanical standard Nikon has ever attained, while the mm Series E was somewhat less sturdy, but still optically superb and better than most modern AF lenses. I would leave the hood at home.
Review by Markus Stamm and Klaus Schroiff, published May Introduction Carl-Zeiss is one of the legendary brands in the business thanks to a history dating back to the very beginnings of the optical industry. Regarding the number the key designs it can almost be described as its cradle established in Zeiss remained active and successful in other optical markets inc.

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to this list. If you have questions or new information please contact me , or you can support this site by making a donation. This page lists every Nikon lens version and sub-version I know of. Minor changes to internal mechanics, lens coating, engravings or electronics may not be listed. For each version up to four serial numbers are given: Start – Earliest – Latest – End.
Start and End serial numbers are from Nikon Ai conversion lists, service manuals, catalogues and various books. The Earliest and Latest serial numbers are from lenses I have seen. They help confirm the Start and End numbers or indicate the range where the Start and End numbers are unknown. I don’t receive information from Nikon or sponsorship from any other business, this list has been put together from many years of independent research and from details forwarded by readers.
I currently have limited time for research so serial numbers for current models may not be up to date. If you bought a new lens or camera recently please let me know, it will help to keep this database current – thanks! Pictures of pre-Ai versions may be of Ai converted lenses.
Nikon F2 Serial Numbers and Production Dates
Five cameras has since then been launched in this series. The last camera to have been launched was the Nikon D which came out in and replaced the Nikon D In terms of features and spec, the D is almost identical to the D It uses the same
Nikon has a long and storied history dating all the way back to The company began when three Japanese optical companies joined forces.. I place the emphasis on the word optical, because this is what Nikon is renowned for: while they have created a long line of memorable cameras, the lenses that they produce are exceptional.
Both the screen size and the screen resolution is up to the standards of this class. D has a built-in Optical pentamirror viewfinder. Max Shutter speed Nikon D can shoot continuously at max speed of 5. Flash D has a built-in flash, and it also has a flash shoe to mount your external flashes too. Focusing Nikon D features both Contrast Detection and Phase Detection autofocus AF systems which ensures speed and accuracy of focusing in most situations. The AF system has 11 points to choose from.
Nikon D also features where it intelligently detects the faces in the frame and locks the focus automatically. Full HD resolution of Nikon D will be adequate in most of the situations. It has a Mono speaker but no built-in microphone.

Features[ edit ] It has a It also has a 2. The camera uses a through-the-lens full-aperture exposure metering system.
In Eastern Orthodox church history especially within Russian Orthodox Church, the Old Believers or Old Ritualists (Russian: старове́ры or старообря́дцы, starovéry or staroobryádtsy) are Eastern Orthodox Christians who maintain the liturgical and ritual practices of the Eastern Orthodox Church as they existed prior to the reforms of Patriarch Nikon of Moscow between.
We rated Luminar as “Highly Recommended”. Visit the Luminar web site to try it for free. The new D is identical to the previous D model apart from three new features. It can now shoot a burst sequence at 6fps, up from the D ‘s 5. Nikon have also taken the opportunitty to improve the auto white balance system, which now produces more accurate colour in artificial lighting and more realistic skin tones.
Other highlights include a shutter unit designed for , actuations, an ISO range of , extendible up to 25, and down to 50; dual SD card slots with SDXC and UHS-I support; a dual-axis virtual horizon; in camera HDR exposure blending; and Full HD video capture at a variety of frame rates, with the ability to output an uncompressed live video stream to external recorders. The lower weight has mainly to do with the body material – the Nikon D has a body shell whose rear and top plates are made of metal but the front plate is plastic.
That doesn’t make it any less sturdy – in fact, the D boasts the exact same level of weatherproofing as the D The right-hand grip is smaller but still quite comfortable, even if using the camera for an extended period of time. As far as its control layout is concerned, the Nikon D takes its cues from the D and D – but doesn’t quite duplicate either of them. Most Nikon users will feel right at home with the D , but make no mistake – for all the similarities with the other models, its control arrangement is still unique; more like a blend of the D ‘s and the D ‘s than a duplicate of either.
Given that many prospective owners will use it either as a step-up or a back-up body, it would have been logical for Nikon to take the user interface of an existing model and replicate it on the D as closely as possible, but this is not quite the case. But if you plan on using the two cameras alongside each other, that’s a different story.
Nikon’s P1000 takes the superzoom crown with a beastly 125X lens
The lens was one of the latest additions to the system discontinued just after the Millennium. Soon after its release the news spread that this lens is something special – user comments and reviews suggested that it was the best mass production ultra-wide lens ever produced. Due to the rather mediocre alternatives in the EOS land some Canon users were even desperate enough to use it via adapters on their EOS cameras At the peak of this crazy hype it was almost more an investment rather than a purchase.
In addition, the ZF-line remains available, but is now marketed for industrial applications only. According to Zeiss it has been modernized with respect to flare and environment-friendly glass and the optical design has also been altered slightly.
Nikkor AF-S 20mm f/ G Review (FX) Review by Markus Stamm, published May Introduction When Nikon started upgrading its range of affordable fast primes, probably every Nikonian had its own personal wish list of fairly outdated AF-D primes that’ he’d like to see a modern age equivalent to soon.
While they have quickly run out of stock in Japan, it sounds as if other potential users, such as in the US, are still taking a wait-and-see approach to learn how Df users feel about the controls, ergonomics, performance, etc. All photos by the author, except where noted. From my hands-on experience so far, as I have been researching and writing my Nikon Df Experience guide to the camera, I can assure you that it is a highly capable, well featured dSLR, with extremely high image-quality.
Its low-light performance has proven to be the best of any current dSLR. But in addition to all this, it is a beautifully styled camera though with a couple functionality sacrifices made in the name of retro-styling , and it is a truly fun camera to admire, hold in your hands, and — most importantly — to use. At the same time, it may cause you to be a bit off-balance for awhile, as you need to remind yourself to reach for a dial to change the ISO setting or exposure compensation amount, or to re-accustom yourself with the concept that shutter speed can be changed with a dial if you desire.
Sony A7R III vs Nikon D850: Which Should You Buy?
Center resolution on the 28mm E holds up pretty well, save for the far extremes of the aperture range. Corner sharpness is where everything falls apart. What surprises me is the 28mm E was designed to cover a 35mm full-frame. Even then, this is not a lens that gets close to sharp-across-the-frame performance. Sharpness at Infinity Unfortunately the same performance characteristics follow to the maximum focusing distance. To assess infinity sharpness I shot this uninspiring telephone pole with tiny orange numbers inscribed on the side:

Olympus has been on a serious tear recently, releasing a number of highly-praised lenses, especially with regards to their growing Zuiko Pro series. In fact, most of the Zuiko Pro lenses have earned some kind of award in all of our recent Camera of the Year Awards dating back to As you may already know, we published a Hands-On Look at this lens back in November Based on this real-world test, as well as putting a copy of the lens to use during our Olympus E-M1 Mark II Field Test , we had very high hopes once this lens hit our testing lab.
Even wide-open and at all focal lengths, the Olympus offers fantastic sharpness across the entire frame. In our testing, we saw very little variation in sharpness at the center compared to the corners.

While most of the size advantage is going to come from the mirrorless body, this lens is still easy to bring along. The lens is also relatively lightweight at just Given the aperture is twice as small, however, that makes sense. The much higher price point of the new Z-Mount 50mm suggests high-end quality, however, and the F-mount 50mm is a much more budget-friendly lens. The ability to twist the lens closed leaves it taking little space in the camera bag considering the zoom range. The zoom ring is easy to grip and turn.
Closing the lens for storage requires a firm twist, but that prevents accidentally closing the lens while shooting. Along with the zoom ring, a second ring on the lens can be customized to control different settings. By default, it controls manual focus like most lenses, but can also control aperture and exposure compensation. The lens accepts 72mm filters and includes a lens hood.

The Pictorial History of Nikon Starts from here The camera, Hansa-Canon , has a special bayonet mount similar to Nikon-S. Nikon designed lenses were used by Canon, that included the Finder-optics Rangefinder and lens mount of Hansa-Canon also made by Nippon Kogaku. A highly collectible model as the quantity produced were limited less than a thousand. All were chrome-silver finished except probably a few were made in black-paint.

Primarily for taking pictures of my kid and the events that we attend. I tend to do a lot of indoor shots, and before I got the Df I pretty much had the flash hooked up all of the time. D4 was never on the list due to the heavy price. Low light photography won as the primary factor. Video was not on the list since the majority of the time I have taken video was by accident. Since I have gotten this camera, I have not even attached a flash. Flash has just not been needed, even with all of the indoor shots that I do.
